2025 Quarry Challenge

The 2025 Quarry Challenge was Sunday, September 28 and we could not have asked for better weather. 251 people of all ages registered for the 5k run/walk through our actively mined limestone quarry. The 8^th annual  5K run is a fundraiser for the Friends of the South Rockwood Library. Only with the help of  GLA and our partners, vendors, customers and the support of the community and runners from all over Michigan, are we able to make this event happen. It takes many of our employees, sponsors and volunteers to coordinate this amazing event. The 251 runners/walkers that signed up this year had the opportunity to step on to one of the most unique and challenging 5k’s in Michigan.

The Friends of the South Rockwood Library use the funds raised from the Quarry Challenge to sponsor and support summer reading programs, toddler, child, family and adult activities. They also support the local Airport Community Schools, The Village of South Rockwood events, DECA and Youth in Government. Great Lakes Aggregates also participates in their Village Trunk or Treat.
